A: Hello Daniel,
Convicted sex-offenders have a difficult time getting hired. I suggest contacting your parole or probation officer. Often they have knowledge of employers who have hired offenders.
I suggest also contacting your local United Way. The United Way support social agencies that provide services to ex-offenders and felons. Goodwill Industries has a proven record of hiring ex-offenders and felons as well as providing other services . You can get more information here:
http://www.goodwill.org/
Another solution is to apply for temporary employment. Many employers are in need of temporary help. Often temporary employees are hired permanently. Smaller independent agencies are a better choice than larger, nationally known ones. Independent agencies are free to hire anyone they choose and are more likely to hire felons and ex-offenders. Larger agencies often have to comply with the policies of the parent company.
Jobs for felons and sex-offenders may be difficult to find but a little hard work will pay off.
I hope this helps

My brother is a registered sex offender that lives in the Cheasepeake area of Virginia. He has tried relentlessly to support himself and make a living but no one will hire him. He came out of prison in 2006 and has conitnuoulsy struggled since then. I am scared that he is going to eventually take his life because of not being able to get a break anywhere. Please help before it is too late.
ReplyDeleteHere in the state of Nevada, I don't know about other states, even the temp agencies will tell you the same thing, "As a sex offender you're not bondable, therefore we can consider your application." This is not true. There is a federal program in place to bond hard to place individuals, including sex offenders. Also, employers need to be aware of the other incentives (sp?) that are available to them if they hire ex felons of any sort. They can get up to $2400 tax credit, if they offer on the job training they can be reimbursed for up to 50% during the first six months, AND, as added bonus to the felon, US Bank has a program set up that will insure a home loan for an ex felon that is gainfully employed for one year. For further information, in Reno, NV, you can contact a non-profit organization called My Journey Home.

ReplyDeleteGoodwill does not help sex offenders. Nobody does. Our cowardly government wants us to just go away and die. They may get there wish if I can not get a job soon.
ReplyDeleteI am a sex offender living in Reno, NV and am looking for work. I am also disabled. I have been looking for over a year now. Does anyone know of anyone that will give a hard working person a chance to earn a living?
ReplyDeletehi, my name is Lauren. i am currently dating a sex offender in a small Mississippi town. he received a statutory rape charge approximately 10 years ago, and has been drawing a check because work is so hard to come by. living off the government is not something either of us want for him in life, however there just seems to be no other option. we both want to build a life together, however things are looking worse than ever. if anyone has any information that could help in any way please do not hesitate to let me know.
